University History From the branch to the university
1964 a branch of Plekhanov Institute of National Economy was opened in
Vladivostok
1968 the branch was ranked into an independent higher educational institution
- Far Eastern Institute of Soviet Trade (FEIST)
1991 the Institute was ranked into Far Eastern Institute of Commerce
1996 Far Eastern State Academy of Economics and Management
The educational institution received academy status and new name - Far
Eastern State Academy of Economics and Management (FESAEM)
2004 The academy received university status and was ranked into the Pacific
State University of Economics.
History of the Pacific State University of Economics goes back to 1964 – year of
establishing of Vladivostok branch of Plekhanov Institute of National Economy.
The oldest university in Primorye includes the following educational branches:
International Institute of Finance, Credit and Banking, Management Institute,
Institute of Food Technologies and Commodity Science , Institute of Economics,
Correspondence Education Institute, Institute of Professional Skills Improvement
and Vocational Retraining of Specialists, Scientific – Research Institute of
Economic Researches and High Technologies, Professional Skills Improvement
Department for High School Teachers.
In April 1968 USSR government had ranked Vladivostok Branch of Plekhanov
Institute of National Economy into an independent institute – Far Eastern
Institute of Soviet Trade.
Correspondence Education Department was the biggest department of the new
institute. It trained 1 500 students on five specialties. Administration of the
department had determined a task – to train specialist for trade activity in Far
East including Sakhalin and Amurskaya area, Kamchatka, Yakutia, Chukotka and
other territories. In 1998 based on Correspondence Education Department the same
Institute was established, that presently provides training of 6500 students.
Correspondence Institute consists of: Correspondence Education Department,
Advantaged Training Department, Distance Learning Department, Software
Laboratory with access to the local PSUE Network with Internet facilities, the
affiliates, and the representations.
Under the international cooperation the Distance Learning Center applies new
informational technologies of distance education in accordance with the
cooperation agreement concluded between the Correspondence Education Institute
and Edmonds Community College (Seattle, the USA).
Correspondence Institute trains specialists based on distance learning
technology. Educational process is provided with casetechnology, Internet,
telecommunication systems, and combined technologies.
Use of distance learning technology gives an opportunity to learn staying at
home, to consult students, and to check progress of students. Primary
educational resources are methodical means, data bases of distance learning that
provide a necessary level of requirements for modern educational technologies
and basic informational resource in academic hours. To provide access to data
base and other means of distance learning for students the institute as well as
its branches and affiliates applies telecommunication facilities. Students of
Correspondence Education Institute actively participate in scientific- research
work of the University having been awarded with grants and diplomas of the
Ministry of Education and etc. The Institute provides also training for free (annual
quantity of free places is 285). The Institute carries less – expensive training
that gives an opportunity to provide training for all the people who is
interested in correspondence education. Graduate students of the Correspondence
Education Institute are in great demand in labor market of Vladivostok and
Primorye. Correspondence Education Institute has seven branches in Nakhodka,
Uzhno – Sakhalinsk, Arseniev, and Ussuriysk. The branches carry training in all
types of education (full-time and correspondence), provide various educational
programs (complete and part), and apply different technologies (typical and
distance). Pacific State University of Economics has 13 representatives in
Primorskiy Territory. |
